A bend in the river!

I took this shot of a bend in the river flowing through the pristine forests of West Papua from the window of my plane. While looking at it on the camera, the man in the middle seat, an oversized European, peeping over my shoulders groaned "What a waste!".
I decided I will ignore him, after all the quality of the picture from the plateglass of the plane, was not the best, and I assumed that is what he meant. But no sir, he wanted to carry on, "Did you know entire civilizations have flourished along rivers?".
Now, I did not mean to be rude, but the man reminded me of a particularly irritating colleague of mine, who is both patronizing and single-mindedly stupid when he takes it upon himself to hold forth, so I gave him a cold stare and quickly plugged my ears with the sounds of Poppa Chubby crooning 'Sweat'.
But, the insolent man, very much like my colleague at work, did not take the cue or understand the signal, no sir, he went on, "Do you speak English mate?". I of course quickly said "No English sorry", thinking that it would shut the bugger up.
But no sir, he went on , " What a waste of a river, I say, all that water flows into the sea." I stared blankly at him.
He went on "You see these trees are good money, mate, they should cut them and build cities here to move the unfortunate masses living like animals from Jakarta slums and give them a good life here."
"Animal!" I said, a vain attempt at being cheeky, but no sir, the man was simply incapable of getting the drift. He went on " Ah yes, I know their are animals in that forest, but the Papuans could finish them in one sitting, hahaha."
Calm down, I told myself, I work with Greenpeace and I have to uphold principles of non-violence. But in the name of Gandhi, how do I non-violently tell this guy to stop, so I ask "Where from are you?" playing the non-english speaker as confessed to him earlier.
"London! I am Tim, come on man, even you must have heard about London haven't you?". Yes sir, I nodded, "I have a song about London, right here on my player, its from a movie called Sweeney Todd, and now I understand why it says 'There's a hole in the world like a great black pit and it's filled with people who are filled with shit'".
