Naked and Nuked

The blood spilled in Nandigram over land disputes between a gun wielding state’s aspiration to industrialise and sickle wielding farmers and tribal community's desire for survival, has anointed the controversial nuclear deal between US and India.

The commie babus who rule Bengal, now more red faced then the flags they wield have lost their steam and are in no position to oppose the nuclear deal, so the blue turbaned one who rules our great country has scored a home run for his best mate Dubya, the Nero of modern times.

Even as the widows and orphans of Nandigram wait for succor and relief , our Sardar will fly to USA to shake hands with Dubya and together they will load second hand, moth balled American nuclear reactors onto rusty ships for export to India.

Eager and under-employed Indian nuclear scientists will then reinstall them in secret locations along our coastline and then pray to the 60 million gods of the Indian pantheon and thump the reactors and hope to squeeze at least 130 MW of electricity if not the promised 13000 MW.

Meanwhile millions of tired and hungry poor Indians sitting in their dark hovels, without a bulb to ban or a sovereignty to pledge their allegiance to any more, will stand in lines outside ration shops to buy overpriced oil for tiny lamps that light their shanties, huts and tin-cardboard abodes.

Reminds me of a story I heard at New Delhi press club many years ago. Apparently 3 friends were arguing whether Hanuman (the monkey god and the hero of Ramayana) was a Hindu, Mohammedan or Sikh (the faith of the blue turbaned one). The Hindu friend was adamant that Hanuman was a Hindu of course, but the Mohammedan deftly used the argument that like Suleman, Rahman, Hanuman was actually a Islamic hero. But the Sardarji floored both of them by posing the question - Who do you think would set his own tail on fire, to burn down somebody else’s house to resuce someone else’s wife. A Sardar of course. I rest my case, but with deep respect for all the three religions that I have immense faith in. And to be fair to what is left of my leftie friend circle, read What really happened in Nadigram by the CEO of CPI(M).
